How tests are not the way to measure a student's understanding

     Students are not put in schools and the education systems to take tests, but to learn.  When students of all ages complain of tests they are required to take to pass a grade level; they aren't wrong.  What students are being tested on today is knowledge which instead they should be taught on skill.  Having students complete tests on knowledge instead of skill is hindering our student's ability to want to thrive in school.         Take this into account, when students of the future are put into the workplace to complete a task, which will help them more, knowledge or skill?  How students are being tested in schools today are about their knowledge when instead skill is what brings the real understanding of what a student is aware and capable of it.  Knowledge does not stick around for long, especially when in school students are usually taught six subjects and fifteen or more units per a subject.  Skill can stay forever because when a student is brought a task to compl

Proposing solutions to student-athletes time management and teachers homework assignments

Student-athletes lives are misunderstood and look past of by teachers and the school system.  Their teenage psychological growth and development can be affected by their school work performance.    Picture a student who plays any sport of your imagination, that student just got home from a two-hour practice.  After eating a snack and finishing feeding the pets and finishing the chores, that student now has to complete two to three classes worth of homework and assignments because if they don't, they will have to face the consequences of a letter grade that affects their ability to succeed after high school.  The solution to this student athlete's problem is not only something they have to fix, it's also a part of the teacher to have a solution to the problem for that student.  Teachers give homework and assignments to their students and ask for it back the next class or maybe ask for assignments back in an inadequate amount of time to complete and turn in.    To h
